Pre-Conference Masterclass: Audio Mixing For Worship

Get practical moves for modern worship mixes that stay musical and intelligible as we dive into an actual Sunday morning mix. We’ll go deep on processing (multi-band compression, dynamic EQ, carving space with EQ) and routing strategies for building drum and bass impact with dynamics that feel “mixed,” not squashed. We will discuss intentional use of plugins and effects and hear (with tracks) how they can be applied to a worship mix—adding life and space to the mix while maintaining intelligibility and cohesion. Additionally, we will explore volunteer-friendly workflows that keep the mix consistent across multiple services. This class is catered toward intermediate engineers looking to level up, but will be helpful to beginners and technical directors as well. This class will be interactive with Q&A throughout.
Effective Monitor Mixing and Consistent Soundchecks

Learn from a seasoned touring professional sharing tips and strategy for managing talent relationships on IEMs and Wedges to create mixes that every performer will love. We will discuss best practices for maintaining a consistent worship experience while sound-checking with a different band each week. As part of this class, we will walk through stage setups, building a monitor mix from the ground up, using panning and EQ to create space in a mix, and pros and cons of IEMs vs Wedges and wired vs wireless (for microphones and monitors). This class will be interactive with Q&A throughout.
Polishing Your Broadcast Mix

Take your broadcast mix from workable to polished with practical tips for improving intelligibility, balance, and cohesion, helping your stream translate to any listening system with the same energy and excitement felt in the room. We will discuss the pros and cons of various broadcast scenarios, whether you are using the FOH mix for broadcast, using an entirely separate broadcast console driven by another engineer, or a hybrid solution that falls somewhere in between. This class will be interactive with Q&A throughout.
